「break」の語源は、古英語の「brecan」から来ています。この言葉は「割る、壊す」の意味があり、例えば「窓を割る」を英語で「break the window」と言います。また、breakの語源から派生した言葉には「breakthrough(突破)」や「breakfast(朝食)」などがあります。
